Kirche Augusta Frederica von Anhalt-Zerbst
(Japanese: キュルケ Kyuruke, Pronunciation: /kɪrke aʊgʊstə frɛdɛrika fɔn anhalt tsɛrbst/ or /kɪrxɛ aʊgʊsta frɛdɛrika fɔn anhalt tsɛrbst/) is a fire mage, as her secondary names are "Kirche the Ardent" and supposedly, after Saito wins against Guiche, "Kirche the Passion."
Personality
Her best friend is Tabitha, and is always sticking with her through thick and thin, but this might be attributed only to Tabitha's fondness and closeness for action and adventure. She cares a lot for Tabitha, and sometimes, would even get mad if anyone would hurt the latter, as shown when she learns of Tabitha's secret during their visit to Gallia.
Kirche has a special talent in persuasion, as she does not think twice of using her body to gather secret information like in Gallia when they tried to gather information on Tabitha's whereabouts. A very small amount of men could resist this persistence, which does not include the academy boys including Saito himself, until after Fouquet's debut.
It is often implied in the anime that she has a habit of choosing (and sleeping with) her boyfriends with a fixed schedule. However, when she meets Saito, her habit could possibly have changed because of him. Her first name means church in German.
Kirche's familiar is a fire salamander named Flame.
Background
Kirche is the daughter of a Germanian military family; However, she was a nuisance to the family since she was expelled from her last school and was forced to marry an "old geezer" (by her words). She later got transferred to the Academy and met Tabitha.
Summary

In the beginning, she is at odds with Louise. Her quote "I cannot lose to a Vallière like Louise." when she starts going after Saito. At that point Louise is at odds with Kirche. Later they become best of friends when saving the school and Tabitha.
Kirche often uses to annoy Louise, who has been her bitter rival ever since, until she admits her knowledge of Louise's void affinity and apologizing for the terrible things she had done to Louise, though she jokingly side comments that if Louise was no longer a Noble, she would make a decent maid back in their family's mansion in Germania.
Kirche's love interests include most of the Academy boys, Saito, and finally, Professor Colbert.
